Chemical Technology Leader
COMPANY PROFILE:
Our client is a world leading manufacturer and distributor of advanced polymer fabrics which includes knitted outdoor fabrics, coated waterproof fabrics and PVC coated mesh fabrics. Products are sold to a range of consumer and industrial markets including the retail and home furnishing, architectural, construction, and agribusiness markets worldwide. Its products are principally produced from its modern manufacturing facilities in Ningbo, China. Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, the company employs over 1000 people around the globe. The company is recognized as a world leader in the research, development and manufacture of advanced and coated polymer fabrics.
Our client’s Ningbo operation started in 2004. Since then, the major effort of the Ningbo plant has been focused to expansion. Currently, the majority of our client’s products have been coming from its Ningbo plant. As the demands on quality and quantity of Ningbo products continue to grow, the company now needs strong technical professional with hands-on experiences in process improvement and to deal with technical problems.
THE POSITION:
Responsibilities
Reporting to the QA & Technical Director, this Chemical Technology Leader will be responsible for overall masterbatch application, process improvement and supplier audit & selection and quality control, and interface with production, process departments in order to meet the cost and quality objectives.
Work Location: Ningbo Beilun (北仑), China
l Take responsible for the consistency of fiber and fabric production in use of masterbatch.
l Work with suppliers to meet our requirements of product quality, process stability and new applications for products.
l Identify, analyze the cause for product quality (especially color) and provide technical solutions.
l Be responsible for qualifying and auditing suppliers of raw materials to be used in spinning, knitting, weaving and other processes.
l Work with production and process departments to meet the production and quality targets.
l Take charge of new product development, budget planning and cost saving.
l Develop new applications and/or products with selected suppliers in a cost effective way.
l Assure the in time delivery and quality of raw materials.
l Establish operation procedures for production units.
Requirements:
l University degree in chemical engineering, polymer, textile or related disciplines.
l At least 5 years working experiences in fiber/fabric production, extrusion or plastics compounding industry.
l Comprehensive knowledge of masterbatch (color and additives) applications in extrusion process.
l Hands-on experiences in using masterbatch in spinning/ plastics process; familiar with process improvement.
l Good coordination skills. Be capable to read & write in English. Fluent speaking English is a strong plus.
l Hands-on and involved in details and possess a real sense of urgency for action.
l Confident, self-assured and willing to take responsibility.
l Strong problem solving skills and team work spirit.
